Referee Development Program
The Referee Development Program is a direct response by the Wenatchee Valley Youth Soccer to address the shortage of Referee's in our recreational soccer program. This program is for students 12-15 years of age who desire to:
- Learn and apply the rules of the game of soccer
- Learn leadership skills
- Learn small group management skills
- Learn how to facilitate a game, ensuring fairness and safety of participants
- Get some exercise
- Take on the responsibility of a job
This class isn't affiliated with the Washington Referee Association and is not a Grade 9 certification. This is an introductory level certificate that is sponsored only by the Wenatchee Valley Youth Soccer Association. Participant's must pass a take home written test with 90% or better and complete two training practicum's in order to be hired as independent contractors for the 2012 Spring Soccer season. All Referee's will be paid $10 per game officiated as long as all paperwork is filed properly with the Assignor. Pay periods will run 4/1 - 4/30/2012 and 5/1 - 5/31/2012.
Our first class for the Spring outdoor season is Wednesday, March 14, at the Sportsplex, #2 Fifth St., Wenatchee, WA 98801. Class begins at 6:30pm sharp. Class concludes at 8:30pm. All class participants will be given a take home test that is to be completed and turned into the class instructor at their first practicum, March 21, 5pm at the Sportsplex.
